Prior to the Fall 2021 semester, John conducted independent research in preparation for the course.
Over the summer he read “Improve Membrane Absorbers” by Robert Oldfield and developed a preliminary understanding of the work described within the paper.
He also developed a basic MATLAB/OCTAVE program for simulating the proposed device.
This program was in large part based on the provided coded in the paper and descriptions of impedance analogy for electro-mechanical-acoustic systems
